What is an SEO audit?
An SEO audit is a structured health check of a website against the signals search engines actually use to decide who ranks. It is not a keyword report and it is not a traffic dashboard — it is a diagnosis. A good audit answers three questions in order: Can Google reach and index this site? Does Google have reason to trust it? And is the on-page experience good enough to keep the ranking once it is earned?
Our free SEO audit tool answers all three. It fetches your homepage the way a crawler does, follows your redirects, reads your robots.txt and sitemap, probes the URLs that commonly break, and scores 27 signals across nine categories. The premium report extends that to 72 checks and adds Core Web Vitals, an AI-written roadmap and a competitor benchmark.
Why we made 3 audits per day free
Most "free" SEO checkers give you a teasing score and a paywall. We went the other way: the free tier is a complete, usable audit — score, category breakdown, every failing check, and the fix for each one.
Three per day is deliberate. One audit is not enough to prove a tool is worth trusting. Five or more and there is no reason to ever pay. Three lets you check your own site, size up a competitor, and run a client's domain in a single sitting — which is exactly how people actually use an audit tool. The counter resets every 24 hours, and no account is required.
How to use this SEO checker
- Paste your URL. Any format works —
example.com,www.example.comor the fullhttps://address. We resolve redirects and audit the page a crawler actually lands on. - Read your score first, categories second. The number out of 100 is weighted by impact, so a missing SSL certificate costs far more than a missing RSS feed. The category bars show you which area is dragging the score down.
- Work the priority list top to bottom. Issues are sorted by severity, and each one carries the specific fix — the tag to add, the redirect to write, the page to publish.
- Re-run after you ship. Fix a batch, deploy, then audit again to confirm the score moved. Results are cached for six hours, so leave a gap after deploying.
- Save the report. Use "Print / Save as PDF" for a clean copy, or request the emailed version for the full written write-up.
What E-E-A-T looks like in practice
Google's Search Quality Rater Guidelines talk about Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness and Trustworthiness, which sounds abstract until you translate it into markup. In practice E-E-A-T is a set of things that are either on your page or not:
1. Someone real is behind this site
An About page with a founding story, named authors with credentials, team photos, and a legal entity in the footer. We run 16 checks on this alone.
2. You can be contacted and held accountable
A branded email address, a phone number, a physical address, a privacy policy and terms of service. These are also the exact signals AdSense reviewers look for.
3. The site is maintained
A current copyright year, no leftover /hello-world/ demo posts, no staging URLs in the
menu, no placeholder href="#" links, no duplicate SEO plugins fighting each other.
Neglect is measurable, and Google measures it.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this SEO audit tool really free?
Yes. Three full audits every 24 hours, no account, no credit card, no trial that quietly expires. Each free audit runs 27 checks and returns a score out of 100 plus your priority fixes.
Do I need to verify my domain or install a plugin?
No. The audit works on any publicly reachable site. There is no DNS record, no plugin and no Search Console connection — which also means you can audit competitors.
How accurate is the score?
Every check is a direct observation of your live HTML, headers, robots.txt and sitemap — nothing is estimated. The score itself is a weighted model we designed: critical issues like a noindex homepage cost far more than cosmetic ones. Treat the number as a priority signal, and the individual checks as the ground truth.
Does it audit my whole site or just the homepage?
The free audit analyses your homepage in depth and probes
site-wide resources — robots.txt, your XML sitemap, /index.php, and the URLs that commonly
break. The premium audit additionally fetches and scores your About page against nine dedicated checks.
Can agencies white-label the report?
Yes — that is a core premium feature. Add your agency name, logo, contact details and accent colour, and optionally hide SmartGen branding entirely, then deliver the PDF to your own clients.
Is my website data stored?
Audit results are cached for six hours so a repeat scan of the same domain is instant, then discarded. We only keep your contact details if you choose to request the emailed report. See our Privacy Policy.
